Odissi

The dance of Oidsha (Orissa) is one of the sixth acknowledged form of Indian classical dances. The rhythm, mudras and Bhangis used in odissi have distinct style of their own. The king Mahamegavahan Kharvela gave patronage to this dance.

Temples in Chennai

1. Ashtalakshmi Temple

The deity of this temple is eight forms of 'Lakshmi', the goddess of properity. It is located on the "Elliot's beach in Besant nagar, Chennai. The temple has rich Drawidian architecture. 4. Mangadu Kamakshi Temple

Mangadu means mangrove.The goddess is kamakshi, a form of Parvathy.The image of the deity is really eye-catching.

5. Vadapalany Dandayudhapani Temple

The teple is typical example thatdevelopment has never tarnished the cultural and traditionalheritage of Chennai people.

6. Thyagaraja Temple.

One of the oldest temples of Chennai. It is constucted a millenium ago.
