Temples in Chennai

1. Ashtalakshmi Temple

The deity of this temple is eight forms of 'Lakshmi', the goddess of properity. It is located on the "Elliot's beach in Besant nagar, Chennai. The temple has rich Drawidian architecture. In the recent 'Tsunami that devastated the city the temple alone escaped with not a drop of water rushing into the pemises
2. Kapaleeswarar Temple

Located at Mylapore in Chennai. The temple has a long history. Mylapore in important as Thiruvalluvar, the great poet of Tamil has lived here at one time.

3. Kundrathur Temple

This temple has unique architecture than any other 'Murugan Temples in Chennai. The deity is unusually placed facing north.It is about 28 kms. from the Chennai city.

4. Mangadu Kamakshi Temple

Mangadu means mangrove.The goddess is kamakshi, a form of Parvathy.The image of the deity is really eye-catching.

5. Vadapalany Dandayudhapani Temple

The teple is typical example thatdevelopment has never tarnished the cultural and traditionalheritage of Chennai people.

6. Thyagaraja Temple.

One of the oldest temples of Chennai. It is constucted a millenium ago.
